I'm building a cathedral

Consider the story of two stonemasons.  You walk up to the first stonemason and ask, “Do you like your job?”  He looks up at you and replies, “I’ve been building this wall for as long as I can remember.  The work is monotonous.  I work in the scorching hot sun all day.  The stones are heavy and lifting them day after day can be backbreaking.  I’m not even sure if this project will be completed in my lifetime.  But it’s a job.  It pays the bills.”  You thank him for his time and walk on. About thirty feet away you walk up to a second stonemason.  You ask him the same question, “Do you like your job?”  He looks up and replies, “I love my job.  I’m building a cathedral.  Sure, I’ve been working on this wall for as long as I can remember and yes, the work is sometimes monotonous.  I work in the scorching hot sun all day.  The stones are heavy and lifting them day after day can be backbreaking.  I’m not even...

Increasing value

Image
I found this so inspiring, so I thought I should forward it: Michael Jordan was born in 1963, in the slums of Brooklyn, New York. He had four  siblings and his father's earnings were not sufficient to provide for the whole family. He grew up in a poor neighbourhood. Exposed to mindless violence and heavy discrimination in the slums, he saw for himself only a hopeless future. His father saw in Michael, a lost soul and decided to do something. He gave Michael, who was 13 years old, a piece of used clothing and asked: "What do you think the value of this outfit would be?" Jordan replied,"Maybe one dollar." His father asked, "Can you sell it for two dollars? If you can sell it, it would mean that you are a big help to your family." Jordan nodded his head, "I'll try, but no guarantee that I'll be successful." Jordan carefully washed the cloth clean. Because they didn't have an iron, to smoothen the cloth, he l...

Create pictures for future

Rhonda Byrne says:  "Neville recommends at the end of every day, before you go to sleep, to think through the events of the day. If any events or moments did not go the way you wanted, replay them in your mind in a way that thrills you. As you recreate those events in your mind exactly as you want, you are cleaning up your frequency from the day and you are emitting a new signal and frequency for tomorrow. You have intentionally created new picture for your future. It is never too late to change the pictures."

Happiness

Rhonda Byrne says:  "If you have been living your life saying to yourself, “I will be happy when I have a better house,” “I will be happy when I get a job or promotion,” “I will be happy when the kids are through college,” “I will be happy when we have more money,” “I will be happy when I can travel,” or “I will be happy when my business is a success,” you will never have those things because your thoughts are defying the way love works. They’re defying the law of attraction. You have to be happy first, and give happiness, to receive happy things! It can’t happen any other way, because whatever you want to receive in life, you must give first! You are in command of your feelings, you are in command of your love, and the force of love will give back to you whatever you give out."

Life view

Paulo Coelho says: "I can choose either to be a victim of the world or an adventurer in search of treasure. It's all a question of how I view my life" "People are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of."

Brakes

Someone asked, "Why do we have brakes in a car" Many answers were provided like "to stop", "to reduce speed" , "avoid collision" etc., but the best I found was, "To allow you to drive faster" Give it a thought. It's true but seldom appreciated. It's because we have brakes that we can dare to accelerate, dare to go fast and reach destinations we desire. At various points in life, we found our parents, teachers, mentors, friends and spouse etc. questioning your progress, direction or decision. But remember it's because of them that you are where you are today. Learn to appreciate the 'brakes' in your life.
